This 12 Astrology Symbol Wall Hanging is a Kalachakra Mantra Wall Hanging Plate, including Tibetan Astrological Calendar Animals. The Kālacakra calendar is a lunisolar calendar with a 60-year cycle. Unlike the Western calendar, the months last from new Moon to new Moon and are defined by the zodiac sign into which the Sun moves during the month. Occasionally, the Sun does not change signs throughout a month, and this is referred to be an additional, or intercalary month.

In the Kalacakra tradition, the additional month has the same features as the previous month. However, in Tibetan calendars, the intercalary has the same characteristics as the next month. This wall hanging is not only a beautiful addition to any mundane wall but also a reminder of the glorious past of the Buddhist tradition where they mastered the astronomical sciences.

A Celestial Cycle of Symbols

This exquisite brass wall hanging is a captivating representation of the twelve signs of the zodiac, each rendered with meticulous detail and artistic flair. Embossed on a circular brass plate, these celestial symbols are arranged in a harmonious cycle, evoking the cosmic dance of the heavens. The craftsmanship is a testament to traditional artistry, where each curve and line is thoughtfully executed to bring these ancient symbols to life.

Echoes of the Divine and the Earthly Realm

The twelve animals are not merely astronomical markers but also hold deep cultural and mythological significance across various traditions, particularly within Tibetan Buddhism and related cosmological systems. The Rat, often associated with quick wit and adaptability, can be linked to stories of cunning creatures that navigate complex situations. The Ox, symbolizing strength and diligence, resonates with agricultural societies and their reliance on this steadfast animal. The Tiger embodies courage and power, a frequent motif in protective amulets and tales of bravery. The Hare, representing cleverness and longevity, is a familiar figure in folklore, often overcoming adversity through intelligence. The Dragon, a potent symbol of good fortune, strength, and control over natural forces, is a paramount deity in many East Asian cultures. The Serpent, or Snake, signifies wisdom, transformation, and healing, often appearing in ancient myths as both benevolent and formidable. The Horse, representing speed, freedom, and a spirit of conquest, is revered for its role in both warfare and peaceful pursuits. The Sheep, associated with peace, gentleness, and artistic inclination, reflects a desire for harmony. The Monkey, known for its intelligence and playfulness, is a recurring character in stories of mischief and enlightenment. The Rooster, a herald of the dawn, symbolizes punctuality and courage. The Dog, a loyal companion, represents fidelity and protection. Finally, the Pig, often associated with abundance and good fortune, signifies prosperity and sustenance.

A Harmonious Centerpiece

At the heart of this celestial wheel lies a stylized representation that further enhances its spiritual and artistic value. This central motif, with its intricate geometric patterns and subtle symbolic elements, likely represents a profound concept within the tradition from which this piece originates, perhaps a mandala or a sacred symbol embodying universal truths. The arrangement of these twelve zodiacal creatures around this central element creates a visually balanced and spiritually resonant composition, drawing the viewer into a contemplation of cosmic order and the interconnectedness of all things.

Craftsmanship and Cultural Heritage

Crafted from durable and lustrous brass, this wall hanging is designed to endure, retaining its shine and detail for years to come. Its substantial presence and intricate design make it a striking focal point for any room. Whether displayed in a meditation space, a living area, or a study, this piece serves as a constant reminder of the cyclical nature of time, the influence of celestial bodies, and the rich tapestry of cultural narratives that have shaped human understanding of the universe. It is more than just a decorative item; it is a conduit to ancient wisdom, a celebration of artistic heritage, and a beautiful embodiment of the cosmos.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
