Bring the stone-carved Jagannath trimurti into your space, and add to the auspiciousness of your home or office. The handcarved sculpture that you see on this page depicts the three deities exactly as in the precincts of the temple at Puri.

There is Subhadra, sister to Jagannath and Balabhadra; Jagannath is to Her left, while Balabhadra is to Her right. Directly on top of Her head is a parasol. An archway above the parasol, originating from the tops of the lotus-sculpted pillars on either side of the trimurti. This makes for a traditional-style temple entrance.

The substantial Kirtimukham motif above the temple entrance archway is the most striking aspect of the work. Also, an elongated plinth carved with lotus petals, which is kinked at exactly the right places beneath the feet of each deity. The neatly executed, intricately done engravings on the forms of divinity make this work a masterpiece.

A Divine Assemblage from Puri

This exquisite carving captures the essence of Lord Jagannath and his divine siblings, Balabhadra and Subhadra, in a form steeped in tradition and artistry. Crafted from warm, rosy pink stone, this piece evokes the sacred aura of the Puri Jagannath Temple, a pilgrimage site of immense significance. The figures themselves are rendered in the iconic, stylized forms that have captivated devotees for centuries, with their large, round eyes and distinctive facial features. The central deity, Lord Jagannath, is flanked by his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra, their presence radiating peace and divine grace. ––––––––––

Symbolism and Iconography

The presence of the Kirtimukha above the arch is a potent symbol in Indian art and architecture. Often depicted as a fierce, leonine face, it represents a powerful guardian, warding off evil spirits and negative energies. Its placement here, crowning the divine figures, signifies protection and auspiciousness for all who behold them. The intricate floral and scrollwork adorning the arch and the pillars further enhance the aesthetic appeal, reflecting the rich artistic heritage of Odisha. Tiny birds perched on the archway add a touch of natural beauty, hinting at the divine's pervasive presence in all aspects of creation. ––––––––––

Craftsmanship and Devotion

Each element of this murti is a testament to the skill and dedication of the artisan. The carving is detailed and precise, bringing the stone to life with its subtle textures and contours. The sculptor has masterfully captured the serene expressions of the deities, inviting a sense of devotion and contemplation. The overall composition is balanced and harmonious, designed to be a focal point of spiritual energy in any home or sacred space. This piece is more than just a decorative item; it is a vessel of divine blessings, a tangible connection to the spiritual heart of Odisha, and a timeless representation of faith and devotion.
