It is human nature to fear the dark, unknown. There is a negative connotation attached to darkness and everything or everyone associated with it. However, it is in the shadowy, bottomless unknown, that Mahakali, the great warrior goddess resides.
Goddess Kali stands outside the realm of the “normal” human world. We are told not to go near a crematorium, but she has made it her home. We shiver at the thought of death, while the goddess Kali, as her name suggests, is the controller of the cycle of life and death, she has overpowered Kaal himself. This magnificent brass statue with inlay captures the divine fearlessness that goddess Kali embodies. The contrast created by polychrome inlay work looks beautiful against the polished silver-hued brass. Goddess Kali stands tall, gazing at her children, while simultaneously challenging Kaal with her combative posture.
