This beautiful brass piece represents Ganesha seated, with his left foot folded under him and the right foot placed on the base. His headgear is a composite of turban and crown, behind we can see his aura, to mark his divine persona, a feature of Indian religious sculptures. Out of his four hands, the two at the back hold one noose each, to capture all the hurdles of his worshippers with one quick movement of his hand. In his left hand below, he holds a laddu, his favorite sweet, because even gods can have a sweet tooth! His right hand is raised in Abhaya mudra, symbolizing fearlessness, telling all beings to have no fear, for the God of wisdom and auspiciousness is on our side. The intricacy of the work can be seen in the way his dhoti/loincloth folds are shown.

What makes this piece stand apart is- the hands on which Ganesha is comfortably seated. According to a shloka from the Vishnu Purana meant to be recited early in the morning while looking at our palms, the goddess of prosperity Lakshmi resides in the tip of our fingers, goddess of knowledge Saraswati is located in the middle and the part above the wrist is where Govinda, a form of Vishnu. These godheads, including Ganesha, represent auspiciousness and good luck. This piece hence brings to you the blessings of not one but four supremely powerful godheads, with an equally powerful message- our luck is in our hands.

An unusual part of the image is the roses at the base instead of the traditional lotus flowers associated with gods, making it a perfect blend of antiquity and modernity and qualifying it to be the next purchase for your collection.
