Superfine Ornamented Nataraja (Shiva) Pink Stone Statue Dancing On Apasmara
Shiva is shown
as having four arms and a serpent wrapped around his neck in this artwork. He
is beating out the beat of his dance with a little drum called a damaru that he
is holding in his upper right hand. He is holding a small flame of fire in his
upper left hand to represent the powers of both creation and destruction. In a
gesture of reassurance, he raises the palm of his lower right hand.
In the sculpture, Nataraja
is shown dancing on the dwarf demon Apasmara, who represents ignorance and
epilepsy. This demon represents nonsensical speech and spiritual ignorance. The
Vedic writings claim that ignorance is the biggest deterrent and impediment to
achieving self-realisation.
Apasmara must
be subdued in order to bring about spiritual knowledge or transcendental wisdom
and maintain knowledge in the world. In order to do this, Lord Shiva
took the form of Nataraja,
and, using rhythmic movements, he stepped on the demon Apasmara and crushed him
beneath his right foot. Signifying that whoever seeks refuge in Nataraja will
be liberated from ignorance and will have access to opportunities for spiritual
development.
This exquisite
work of art perfectly portrays Lord Shiva’s pure essence in Nataraja, the lord
of dance who represents creation, preservation, and destruction. From the
intricate carving of Shiva’s ornaments to the flowing locks of his hair, every
element of the sculpture has been painstakingly sculpted with extraordinary beauty
and perfection.
The sculpture
has a touch of beauty and originality thanks to the pink stone that was chosen
for it. The pink stone is well known for its relaxing and calming properties,
creating a harmonious ambiance wherever it is placed. Its presence emits a
spiritual vibe that encourages devotion and contemplation.
