The Preserver

This finely crafted copper statue depicts Lord Vishnu, the preserver and sustainer of the universe, in a gesture of blessing. Standing at just over 6 inches tall, it's a beautiful representation of the divine, perfect for personal shrines, meditation spaces, or as a meaningful addition to any art collection. Its compact size allows for versatile placement, bringing a touch of serenity and auspiciousness to any environment.

Lord Vishnu: Protector of Dharma

In the Hindu trinity (Trimurti), Vishnu holds the role of the preserver, maintaining balance and order in the cosmos. He is often depicted with a dark or blue complexion, representing the infinite expanse of the sky and the depths of the ocean, symbolizing his all-encompassing presence. He is usually seen reclining on Shesha, the cosmic serpent, dreaming the universe into existence, or standing majestically as depicted in this statue. Vishnu's primary function is to protect Dharma (righteousness) and to restore cosmic balance whenever it is threatened. He is known for incarnating in various avatars, each appearing to combat evil and guide humanity. These avatars include: *

Matsya:

The fish, who saved Manu from a great flood. *

Kurma:

The tortoise, who supported Mount Mandara during the churning of the ocean to obtain amrita (the nectar of immortality). *

Varaha:

The boar, who rescued the Earth from the depths of the cosmic ocean. *

Narasimha:

The half-man, half-lion, who vanquished the demon Hiranyakashipu. *

Vamana:

The dwarf, who tricked King Bali into giving up the three worlds. *

Parashurama:

The axe-wielding warrior, who eliminated tyrannical kshatriyas. *

Rama:

The righteous king of Ayodhya, celebrated in the Ramayana epic. *

Krishna:

The divine statesman, philosopher, and lover, central to the Mahabharata. *

Buddha:

The enlightened one, who founded Buddhism. *

Kalki:

The future avatar, who will appear at the end of the Kali Yuga (the current age) to usher in a new era of righteousness. Each avatar represents a different aspect of Vishnu's divine power and his unwavering commitment to upholding Dharma.

The Blessing Gesture and Symbolic Attributes

In this particular depiction, Vishnu stands in a blessing gesture (Abhaya Mudra), his hand raised to offer protection and dispel fear. While the visible attributes are implied in the statue, Vishnu is often represented holding four objects, each rich in symbolism: *

The Chakra (Sudarshana Chakra):

A discus symbolizing the wheel of time and the power to destroy ignorance and evil. *

The Conch Shell (Shankha):

When blown, it creates the primordial sound of "Om," representing the origin of the universe. *

The Lotus Flower (Padma):

A symbol of purity, beauty, and spiritual awakening. It represents Vishnu's detachment from the material world. *

The Mace (Gada):

Represents power, authority, and the ability to punish wrongdoers. This statue, meticulously crafted in copper, captures the essence of Vishnu's benevolent and protective nature. Its presence brings a sense of peace and serves as a reminder of the divine forces working to maintain harmony in the universe.

Auspicious Copper

Copper is a metal traditionally associated with auspiciousness and divinity in Hinduism. Its warm hue and inherent luster make it a favored material for sacred objects, believed to conduct positive energy and connect the devotee with the divine. This statue, rendered in copper, is not only a beautiful work of art but also a spiritually significant addition to any home or sacred space. Approximate dimensions: 6.2 x 2.8 x 1.8 inch Material: Copper Statue
