Kirateshwar of Kirat, Lord Shiva's Avatar, appeared to earth just as Arjuna was about to kill an Asura disguised as a pig named Mooka. It was claimed that Arjuna and Kirat had a disagreement about who killed the demon and that in order to fix the matter, they fought among themselves. Kirat thereafter offered Arjuna the Pashupati Astra as a trophy for his valour. This bronze monument of Lord Shiva's Kirat avatar bears witness to the age-old account of the deity's incarnation as a hunter, illustrating the perpetual dance of existence and the ever-changing roles we play in life.

A Divine Hunter's Stance

This exquisite brass statue captures Lord Shiva in his formidable Kirateshwar avatar, a celestial hunter embodying divine prowess and unwavering focus. Depicted in the act of drawing a bow, the figure exudes a palpable sense of readiness and power. The detailed craftsmanship highlights the musculature of the deity, showcasing a physique honed by divine purpose. Adorned with traditional ornaments, including a band across the chest and bracelets, the statue reflects the rich cultural heritage associated with Shiva's manifold forms. The thoughtful inclusion of a hunting dog by his side adds a layer of narrative depth, signifying companionship and the primal instincts of the hunt, rendered with lifelike grace. ––––––––––

Mythological Echoes of the Kirata Form

The Kirateshwar form of Lord Shiva is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology, particularly the epic tale of the Mahabharata. It recounts how Arjuna, the greatest archer of his time, performed severe penance to obtain the divine Brahmastra weapon. Lord Shiva, disguised as a Kirata (a tribal hunter), tested Arjuna's valor and skill by engaging him in a mock battle over a wild boar, which was, in fact, Shiva himself. Arjuna, unaware of the divine identity of his opponent, fought with immense bravery. Impressed by Arjuna's archery and warrior spirit, Shiva revealed his true form and bestowed upon him the coveted Pashupatastra. This narrative highlights Shiva's ability to appear in any form, to test and empower his devotees, and to uphold dharma. ––––––––––

An Enduring Symbol of Strength and Devotion

Crafted from high-quality brass, this statue is not merely an object of artistic beauty but a potent symbol of divine strength, spiritual discipline, and the transformative power of devotion. The warm, lustrous finish of the brass enhances the majestic aura of Lord Shiva, making it a captivating centerpiece for any altar, meditation space, or home decor. The intricate detailing, from the delicate features of the face to the textures of the garments and the dynamic pose, speaks volumes about the skill of the artisans. Owning this representation of Kirateshwar is to invite the blessings of a deity who embodies both the fierce protector and the benevolent guru, inspiring courage, resilience, and a deeper connection to the spiritual realm. Its presence serves as a constant reminder of the eternal battle against ignorance and the triumph of divine knowledge.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
