Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and mother Parvati is one of the most prominent altars, faithfully invoked and dedicatedly worshipped by a large group of Hindu devotees.

Ganesha's most striking characteristic is his elephant head, respecting which the Puranic literature has various tales to tell. But one thing is sure – it makes him stand out from the crowd of other gods. Here he is adorned with a karanda mukuta with a lotus shaped prabhavali behind. His large ears resembling winnowing fans show from under his crown. The four armed deity holds the usual attributes, the noose and the elephant goad in two hands, the other two hands are engaged in offering a floral tribute to Shiva linga. That Ganesha was a devoted son is reinforced by his obeisance to this aniconic form of his father – Shiva.

Ganesha's shoulders are covered by uttariya, the ends of which fall on either side of him. An intricately carved dhoti covers his lower body; long necklaces fall on his chest and the pot belly of the God is discreetly concealed by the bouquet of flowers. Great attention has been paid to details in Ganesha's image – the mouse being totally neglected in the process. It is small, non descript – in fact it does not even resemble a rodent.
