Namaskar or Namaskaram is a gesture of paying obeisance, respecting elders, saluting gods, goddesses etc. This Hanuman sculpture is formed with natural blocks of diorite and granite with perfect white scores scratched to form apt ornaments and apparels. Bajrangbali, as the name says, is the most powerful and strongest deities, famous for his generous attitude towards Lord Rama, his guru.

He stands on a thin pedestal with hands joined in respect. He wears a short dhoti with its ends flowing down in ease. The unique feature in this statue is the formation of the long tail, like that of a halo at the back of his crown that takes the shape of a two layered gumbad and a conical top. The statue chiseled with great patience and minute briefings to form beauteous jewels is a good piece to be kept at entrance gates of office or hotel reception.

The Devotion of Anjaneya: A Stone Masterpiece

This exquisite stone sculpture captures the essence of Hanuman, the revered Vanara demigod, in a posture of profound devotion. Hanuman, son of the wind god Vayu and the celestial nymph Anjana, is a central figure in the epic Ramayana. Renowned for his unwavering loyalty to Lord Rama, his incredible strength, and his selfless service, Hanuman embodies courage, humility, and spiritual discipline. This statue, carved from stone, showcases the artistry of South India, specifically drawing inspiration from the rich sculptural traditions of Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage site. ––––––––––––––––––––

A Symbol of Reverence and Strength

The figure is depicted in the Namaskaram Mudra, a gesture of prayer and salutation where the hands are pressed together in front of the chest. This pose signifies deep respect, humility, and surrender, reflecting Hanuman's boundless devotion to Lord Rama. His strong yet gentle facial features convey a sense of inner peace and resolute faith. The intricate detailing on his attire, including the ornate crown, the chest adornment, and the bangles on his wrists and ankles, speaks to the meticulous craftsmanship involved. The most striking feature is the way his tail is gracefully curved upwards, forming a halo around his head, symbolizing his divine status and the extraordinary power he possesses. This unique representation emphasizes his celestial nature and his role as a protector and a divine messenger. ––––––––––––––––––––

Echoes of Mythology and Craftsmanship

The legend of Hanuman is filled with awe-inspiring feats, from leaping across the ocean to Lanka to his role in the epic battle against Ravana. He is often invoked for strength, courage, and protection. This statue serves as a tangible connection to these ancient tales, bringing the divine presence of Hanuman into your home or sacred space. The dark stone, likely sourced and sculpted with age-old techniques, lends a timeless and grounded quality to the piece. The contrasting white carvings highlight the delicate patterns and bring the form to life. The craftsmanship reflects the enduring legacy of South Indian stone carving, where artists transform raw material into objects of spiritual significance and aesthetic beauty, preserving cultural heritage for generations. This piece is more than just a statue; it is a testament to faith, devotion, and the artistic spirit.
