सम्पादकीय 'कोशल' शोधपत्रिका का ४२-४३वों वालूम सुधीजन के सम्मुख प्रस्तुत करते हुये हमें हार्दिक हर्ष की अनुभूति हो रही है। यह शोधपत्रिका १९७९ में प्रारम्भ हुयी थी; तब मैं साकेत पी० जी० कालेज, अयोध्या में सेवारत था। प्रारम्भिक वर्षों में पत्रिका का कलेवर बहुत ही सामान्य रहा। १९८८ में मैं लखनऊ वि० वि० में आ गया। तब से पत्रिका के प्रकाशन का नैरन्नार्य बाधित हो गया। लखनऊ में कुछ मित्रों की सलाह से पुनः इस शोध पत्रिका का प्रकाशन प्रारम्भ किया गया। क्षीणकाय पत्रिका को निरन्तरता प्रदान की गयी। वर्ष २००९ में मैंने अवकाश प्राप्त किया। लखनऊ वि० वि० के सेवाकाल में में इतना व्यस्त हो गया था कि पत्रिका का स्वस्थ कलेवर नहीं बना सका। अवकाश-प्राप्ति के बाद गुरुजन के प्रति श्रद्धाञ्जलि के रूप में इस शोधपत्रिका का प्रकाशन, उनकी स्मृति के रूप में, करने का विचार आया। कुछ मित्रों, शिष्यों और आत्मीयजन से अपना प्रस्ताव बताया। सभी ने मुक्त कण्ठ से सहयोग का आश्वासन दिया। मुख्य आश्वासन आर्थिक सहयोग के लिये हो पाया। लेख तो हमें मिल जाते, लेकिन प्रकाशन में आर्थिक संकट प्रबल था। सभी के सहयोग से हमने प्रथमतः विद्वज्जगत् के पितामह स्वरूप प्रो० के० सी० पाण्डेय के स्मृतिग्रन्थ का प्रकाशन प्रारम्भकिया। तत्पश्चात् प्रो० अतुल चन्द्र बनर्जी, प्रो० जे० पी० सिनहा, प्रो० अशोक कुमार कालिया के स्मृति-ग्रन्थों का प्रकाशन किया गया। इसी समय जगत्गुरु रामानन्दाचार्य संस्कृत वि० वि०, जयपुर के कुलपति रहे प्रो० सत्यदेव मिश्र का अभिनन्दन ग्रन्थ प्रकाशित हुआ। वर्तमान 'अभिराजभारती' विशेषाङ्क प्रो० अभिराज राजेन्द्र मिश्र के अभिनन्दन हेतु समर्पित है। अप्रैल २०१५ में मैं भारत से बाहर सिंगापुर के प्रवास पर था। पारिवारिक परिस्थिति के कारण हमें वहाँ २०१९ तक रहना पड़ा। वहीं से हमने एक बार प्रो० अभिराज राजेन्द्र मिश्र से सम्पर्क किया और यह भी पूछने का साहस किया कि उनका कोई अभिनन्दन ग्रन्थ प्रकाशित हो सका है या नहीं। हमें लग रहा था कि प्रयाग में सेवाकाल के समय या शिमला में सेवारत रहते हुये उनका अभिनन्दन ग्रन्थ तो प्रकाशित हो ही गया होगा, क्योंकि सारस्वत जगत् में उस समय प्रो० मिश्र जी शिखर पर विराजमान थे, किन्तु दैवयोग से उनका कोई अभिनन्दन ग्रन्थ प्रकाशित नहीं हो सका था। हमारे लिये यह आश्चर्यजनक बात थी। आजकल लोग किसी न किसी अपेक्षा से किसी विद्वान् का अभिनन्दन करते हैं। हमें लगा कि अभिनन्दनीय का अभिनन्दन न करना कृतघ्नता होती है। विदेश में ही हमने सोच लिया था कि प्रो० मिश्र का अभिनन्दन तो होना ही चाहिये। उन दिनों मैं प्रो० सत्यदेव मिश्र के अभिनन्दन ग्रन्थ का प्रकाशन कार्य या सम्पादन कर रहा था। मैंने प्रो० मिश्र से आज्ञा माँगी। प्रो० मिश्र ने तुरन्त कहा कि 'भाई! आप यदि चाहते हैं तो हमारी सहर्ष अनुमति है।'
