Foreword The book is the outcome of an In-Service Orientation-cum- Training Course on Ethnographic Museums, which was organized by the Anthropological Survey of India (An.S.I.) from 26th to 30th March,2001. It contains articles written by some seasoned and some upcoming Indian anthropologists and museologists; the articles are product of their working experience in the interface of anthropology and museology. Publications on anthropological museums in India are far from adequate. It is through this publication the Anthropological Survey of India has made a significant effort to fill up the gap and would continue to do so as anthropological museums are integral part of the Anthropological Survey of India. The book will be of immense help to the students of anthropology and museology, professionals in their respective fields of work and administrators attached to the museums.
