Foreword The Asiatic Society, sometimes in 1994, the first Birth Centenary year of Dr Biraja Sankar Guha (15 August, 1894-20 October, 1961) decided to bring out a prestigious volume containing papers on Anthropological studies in the Society along with some valuable writings of Dr Guha. The Volume, after its publication in November, 1994, was dedicated to the memory of Dr Guha to mark its deep honour to this great scientist's remarkable contribution in the field of Physical Anthropology. The Volume contains some exceptionally notable specimens of achievements of Dr Guha in the arena of 20th century Anthropology.
