A milestone in the Census data, however, was witnessed during Census of India 1961 when the first 'Census Atlas' became an exclusive Atlas publication of the Organization. This was a pioneering work on Census Cartography and widely appreciated. Since then, Map Division of the Headquarters and Map units of the Directorates of Census Operations have shouldered the responsibility of disseminating the Census results in the form of maps in various Census Publications/Atlases. The exclusive Map products like Language Atlas of India, Scheduled Tribe Atlas of India, Population Atlas of India and Administrative Atlas of India, etc., were published during Census 2001. All these publications are in great demand among the data users. In Census 2001, a pioneer attempt was made by the Organization to produce 'Housing Atlas of India' depicting different aspects of housing data. It continued in Census 2011 under the nomenclature of 'Atlas on Houses, Household Amenities and Assets' 2011 at the National as well as at the State level. In Census 2011, Administrative Atlas of India, Atlas on Changes in the Boundary of Administrative Units 2001-2011 and the State of India's Children (A thematic presentation based on Census 2011) also became integral part of the Census publications.
