The issue contains in all eleven articles, contributed by seven scholars working in the department as well as in various. other institutions. The inscriptions covered in this issue are from different states of India viz., Gujarat, Kama taka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and belong to various dynasties like the Khaljis, Tughluqs, Mughals and Rathor Chiefs of Nagaur, covering a period over 450 years (1250-1705 A.D.). Some miscellaneous epigraphs too, have been studied in this issue. All the epigraphs taken up for study here throw a welcome light on various aspects of history of the regions mentioned above.
The issue has come out of the press neatly on account of the tireless efforts of Dr. M.L Quddusi who is presently heading the Arabic & Persian wing of the Epigraphy Branch of A.S.I. at Nagpur and his colleagues, all of whom deserve a very hearty appreciation.
