About the Book "The hand book of Homoeopathic Materia Medica is an unique book suitable for students, teachers and practitioners of the subject. This book is unique in the sense that (1)it contains not only the signs/symptoms of the remedies but also they are arranged according to their importances, (ii) this book is also having a summarized form at the end of each drug, (iii) The book also contains the important notes what the renowned teachers and practitioners like Dr. J.T. Kent, Dr. E.B. Nash, Dr. F.A. Farrington etc. quoted in their writings, (iv) Lastly it includes some important practical notes of 'organon of medicine'. Very useful for all the budding practitioners and quoted from 'Dr. Stuart close', Dr. Robert, D. Robertes, Dr. Hahnemann, Dr. J.T. Kent's Writings and inserted in the Toot note' of the page. This book also contains some important aspects of Homoeopathy like what is meant by 'Totality of Signs & Symptoms' Disease aggravation Vs. Homoeopathic aggravation'. 'Kent's Twelve Observations' after application of a medicine, 'Hering's Law of Cure etc. required in everyday practice. Though the book is written in English, the language is very lucid and simple which everyone can easily understand. Please mind that the author Dr. Chandra is a renowned writer of two other homoeopathic books in Bengali, "Homo eo Aushad Nirdesika" (Part -1 & Part-II). This book is written in two part; Part-I contains drugs from 'A' to 'K' and Part-II of drugs from 'L' to 'Z' and it is written on request of Sri Tarapada Mondal of 'Mondal Book Agency'.

About the Author he author, Dr. Chirasukh Chandra is an honours graduate and a post graduate in Zoology from Calcutta University and is a retired head of the department of Sreegopal Banerjee College, Bagati, Mogra, Dist. -Hooghly. uotatio &back. Besides, the author is an D.M.S. (4 Yrs. Diploma in Homoeopathy) secured 3rd position in order of merit and an M.B.S. (a degree in Homoeopathy by an examination under council of Homoeopathic Medicine, W.B. He was the Principal of Bengal Homoeopathic Medical College, Asansol for 3 Years. He was the examiner, Head Examiner, Paper Setter, Tabulator etc. for long years under different Universities. The author is an out and out homoeopath and a teacher in his whole life. He has in his credit two other famous books. 'Homoea Ausadh Nirdesika' (Part One & Part Two) which sell in the book market like hot cakes. Author has two sons, Shovan & Santanu both are Engineering Graduates and P.G. holders (U.S.A) are in abroad: Shovan in Australia, Santanu in U.S.A and the daughter, Saswati is an M.Sc. in Economics (C.U.), Son-in-law, Indranil is a Captain & General Manager of a Shipping Corporation posted in Abu-Dhabi.

Preface I am extremely happy to know that Dr. Chirasukh Chandra a genius in the homoeopthic world & an ex-principal, has written a book on Homoeopathic Materia Medica in a new style of his own, I have seen the book in its prepara tory stage and find exhilarated by its style of composition & a summary added at the end of each drug. This book, "Hand Book of Materia Medica", I think, will hepl the students, teachers and homoeopathic practitionersin their day to day practice. This book will definitely through a new light to the world to show the a path "How to study Homoeopathic Materia Madica". I appreciate this type of approach Dr. Chandra has paved in his writing which will definitely inspire any intelligent student of the subject to study 'Homoeopathy'. It is interesting to note that this book contains the practical hints for the practice of Homoeopathy as envisaged in the 'Organon of Medicine' by Sir Samuel Hahnemann together with valuable writings and practical experience of world renownedphysician like Dr. J. T. Kent, Dr. E. A. Farrington, Dr. E. Β. Nash, Dr. M. L. Tyler, Dr. William Boriecke etc. etc. inserted in the appropiate gap after the narration of each drug. By the study of this book, one can make himself/herself aquainted with Materia Medica and/ at the same time 'Homo eopathic philosophy' Author's scientific approach to study how a homoeopathic medicine acts in a dynamic plane is praise worthy. I wish a long life of this book and its author and I request Dr. Chandra to write more and more books on homoeopathy in this fashion so as to make the homoeopathy more enriched.
