Book Description
Introduction

Ideas are like atoms, containing hidden reservoirs of unlimited energy. Both acts invisibly, yet very power-fully.

"Freedom is our birth right" was an idea, born in the mind of Lokmanya Tilak. But the revolutionary energy latent in this idea, when unleashed, ultimately brought freedom to India and changed lakhs of ordinary mortals into immortal freedom fighters.

The ideas of democracy, socialism and communism were responsible for changing the whole pattern and course of the modern world.

In this small book, I have tried to bring to light two purposeful and powerful ideas "Hinduism alone can save India and the world and "It is our birth right to defend Hinduism", in the hope that if they gain wide acceptance, and are deeply rooted into the minds of all Hindus, they can bring about a moral revolution in our country.

Hinduism is passing through one of the darkest periods of its history due to the fact that today the average Hindu has lost his moorings, his religious and spiritual beliefs in the modern, confusing world. His apathy and indifference towards Hinduism is very nearly total, as his thinking and vision are confused by a wrong concept of secularism.

The fact that the knowledge of Hinduism of a common Hindu is inadequate has been occasionally exploit-ed by interested persons in order to twist the truth and to mislead the Hindu society.

The time has come for all Hindus to become conscious of the part they should play in life if Hinduism and our ancient civilisation and culture are to endure. Every Hindu shares this responsibility. But his responsibility can materialise only if he keeps his faith in the high destiny of Hinduism. This book may help substantiate his faith in his religion by giving it a rational basis, and logically explaining to him why he should defend Hindu-ism.

MALADIES AFFLICTING HINDUISM

Many of the maladies afflicting Hinduism have their origin in disunity, lack of self-respect and self-confidence among the Hindus, a sense of fatalism leading to a feeling of helplessness, and confused thinking born during one thousand years of slavery and destruction of Hindu culture by foreign invaders. During these years Hindus were made to forget the greatness and uniqueness of Hinduism. They were also made to forget their ancient links with the outer world and the fact that their ancient language. Sanskrit, was read and studied from Mongolia to the East Indies. Hindu conscience was completely anaesthetised by the foreign invaders who converted lakhs of Hindus by force, fraud and coercion. The true values of Hinduism enshrined in our ancient scriptures were dimmed by the glitter of the new star of western civilization, and were either totally neglected or relegated to the background.
