Hanuman Chalisa is recited/read/chanted by millions of people every day across the world. It is believed that mere thought of this devotional hymn dispels one's fears and provides solution for all troubles/complications in life. It has been authored by 16th century poet Tulsidas and is dedicated to the monkey or vanar God Hanuman. Chanting Hanuman Chalisa is believed to invoke Hanuman's divine intervention and is recommended to be recalled regularly in bad as well as good times. It consists of 40 Choupais, presented as couplets in this book. In addition, there are three dohas in Hanuman Chalisa, two introductory and one concluding. Inclusion of introductory and concluding dohas in a prayer is a common practise in Indian religious texts as it avoids an abrupt start or end of the sacred message and prepares mind, body and soul of the devotee prior to the holy recitation.
Although many of us may be chanting the chalisa on a regular basis, but do we truly understand the spirit and right meaning that the lines convey? Through this book, an effort is made for devotees to understand and appreciate the profound message of Hanuman Chalisa and imbibe its positive message in life.
