It gives our institution an immense pleasure to publish Lightened to Enlightened a biography of Guru Vaidyaraj A.V. Datarshastri. Author Vaidyaraj Vivek Haldavnekar in this writing. has very seamlessly reflected upon the limitless extent to which our Guru's life was occupied with Panchamahabhuta (five basic elements). The institution has decided to celebrate Guruji's birth centennial year (April 2009 April 2010) by organising various initiatives. Everyone was desirous for Guruji's biography to get published in this year. Well, accolades to Vaidya Vivek Haldavnekar for whole-heartedly responding to this populous demand, assuming the responsibility to pen down Appa's biography and very ably fulfilling it! Guruji had devoted his life towards the research of this very distinct subject of Panchamahabhuta. I am extremely confident that this book will prove to be a great inspiration for entire Ayurveda fraternity i.e. including students, practitioners and researchers of Ayurveda as well as for general readers. It is further possible to extensively collate Guruji's experiences and memories from many of his disciples, patients and relatives. In the future, the institution will earnestly attempt to publish Guruji's comprehensive biography.
