Numerology is a science and art, which is little understood and often much maligned. To many people, numerology is simply a fun game, while to others it is a subject to be studied seriously. Numbers have held a special fascination for many thousands of years. It has been the means for generations of people to try to understand themselves and unravel the mysteries of the future. Numbers are universal and no-one knows their origin. We do know that many early civilisations such as the Egyptians, the Hebrews, the Chaldeans and the Hindus studied numbers as a science and recorded their discoveries. It has been said that everything has been hidden in numbers since the beginning of human awareness of time.
The past and the future can be linked through numbers rather than language. Numbers are a universal way of communicating they have a language of their own, and in numerology it is the meaning of each number and the energy it represents which matters.
It has been recorded that around 10,000 years ago the ancient Babylonians and Egyptians first used numbers scientifically. Traditional interpretations of each number have been traced back to the very dawn of civilisation.
Numerology has always had a mystic or spiritual significance.
The two main sources of current systems are the Greek philosopher, mathematician and astrologer, Pythagoras, born about 580 BC, and the Hebrew Kabbala, ancient Jewish tradition based on the Old Testament.
