This is the third statistical research being produced this year: the first is the near accurate timing of the birth of a child through Jaimini astrology given in the Advanced Use of Jaimini's Chara Dasha, the second the Importance of the Ages of 36 and 72 and the third this one Planets and Sisters and Brothers.
During my service career I could neither produce such a research note could collect enough data. I had chosen smallest samples then and still produced statistical researches published in the Astrological Magazine. I postponed it till a large number of research students decided to contribute from their personal collections some horoscope after examining them through the parameters given to them.
A statistical and replicable astrological research through the techniques of Hindu astrology is not easy as it involves use of vargas and dashas with transits. In this way, if one horoscope is used it means the use of Dreshkona for this chosen research, Vimshottari dasha of three levels and transits of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and Moon nine factors are taken into consideration. In this way, one hundred horoscopes will mean using nine hundred ones. And then the analysis includes the aspects of different planets which includes the special aspects of Saturn, Mars and Jupiter.
In the researches produced by Michael Gauquelin like the Mars effect only factor was taken and even if his sample size was huge his research methodology was too loose, too generalized to convince anyone. Our selection of one hundred horoscopes should not be treated as a small sample as considering the many factors involved in examining one single factor as the birth of a sister or brother, we have to consider nine factors and special aspects of Saturn, Jupiter and Mars. By no means then, it is a small sample.
It is a statistical and replicable astrology that convinces the cynical critics of astrology that astrology is a super science but that does not help as no critic of astrology studies astrology to criticize it. Those ignorant critics always throw the weight of their reputation behind their reputationpitiable ignoramuses as they are.
