Book Description
Preface
I am happy to place this monograph in the hands of teachers, teacher educators and researchers. The monograph has come out as a result of three subtle processes. Firstly, about 40 doe- toral studies and institutional studies are completed on class- room at the Centre of Advanced Study in Education (CASE). M. S. University of Baroda. The studies were in various areas related to classroom. For the first time, the authors attempted to look at these areas in a coherent way.

Secondly, the monograph is the product of a subtle process of interactions, participation, criticising and sharing by authors as a task-force group.

Thirdly, the research findings presented in the monograph have been disseminated in about 17 seminars by the CASE personnel at various places to teachers and we got strengthened in our faith that such research findings are found to be extremely useful to teachers for better classrooms.

This monograph helps us to start a ripple of thoughts among teacher educators and researchers. As a result of this ripple, more researches will be generated and in a couple of years we shall be further strengthened in the area of RESEARCHES ON CLASS- ROOM.

The product does not completely reflect the process. The process of producing this monogragh adds an element of suppor- tive, cohesive, and creative climate to the Centre which itself is a rewarding experience.

With a fond hope that the classroom will be looked upon as growth centre by one and all, and that more researches and dissemination exercises will be undertaken in future, we present this monograph to teacher educators, principals and teachers so that the pupils of tomorrow will find greater psycho-social life- space for shaping the destiny of India.
