Unless we know ourselves in a true sense, the existence of duality will remain. Where there is no duality there is harmony, happiness, compassion and contentment. Knowing ourselves is the key dimension of our life as it is this aspect of our life which determines how we want to live, so the choice is all ours.
Moreover let our co-dependency which is the chronic neglect of self in order to gain approval, love validation or self-identity through others perish and state of "AHAM BRAHMASMI" .... "I AM DIVINE" persist in us to make this Planet a golden Planet. This book is a manifestation of an experience in meditation and wishes to impart to remind every seeker to retrieve their own forgotten self through their own meditation.
When the Pandemic pressed the pause button in my life, Retrieving Our Forgotten Self was born. This book is the MIRROR reflecting different aspects of life which got affected by COVID-19 Pandemic. Millions of people lost their lives across the globe. Rest waited for some miracle to happen. Even it became challenging for science to find the solution till the vaccine was out. Some questions started lurking in my mind. What went wrong? Why did the Pandemic come? Why are we gripped by fear and anxiety by such a devastating situation? Why were only humans punished, locked in their homes? My mind started to enquire, where we got disconnected. With whom we got disconnected? I tried to find the answers to my questions from others and books but was not satisfied with the answers, while pondering upon them I closed my eyes in SILENCE. An awareness and understanding came to me that there is something beyond body and mind. It was from here my journey towards that unknown thing started. I got answers to my questions. What I felt was humanity has disconnected with their Primary source-their true self and has started living mostly outwardly which became their nature, there by forgetting the Primary source. I would rather say that social distancing brought me closer to my true self.
COVID -19 Pandemic changed the perspective of my life and I hope at least one aspect of it will resonate with your life. I must confess that whatever I penned down in the form of this book is purely based on everyday learning I had in my life. I wanted to share with everyone, that life can be fulfilling, contented and blissful if we know how to live in awareness. My endeavour to give words to my thoughts and experiences is to remind mankind of our rich culture, heritage and above all the spiritual wisdom and knowledge given by ancient sages and masters. Knowledge is the key to real happiness. All misery and unhappiness is a result of ignorance. The global pandemic forced us to look back and reintroduce that wisdom and knowledge in our daily life.
During lockdown time I picked a book In Woods of God-Realization (vol 2) by Swami Rama Tirtha. He narrates a story in the chapter "God Within", about a man who was wearing a necklace and suddenly he felt his necklace missing as he couldn't see it in front of his body. He started looking for it everywhere but all in vain. Actually the necklace had slipped on the back side of his neck which he forgot. He then asked his friend to find it for him. His friend looked at him and asked him to place his own hand on the back of his neck where he found his forgotten necklace. Ram Tirtha says the People in India call this realization of absolute truth as the regaining of the forgotten necklace. Something triggered in my heart and mind which resonated with the challenging situation humanity was facing due to pandemic. This illustration galvanized me to write my thoughts which took the shape of the book Retrieving our forgotten self. The need of the hour is to remove our ignorance, dispel the state of slavery of our mind to outer world which has made us to forget our true self.
