This is the first in a series of short books on the life and teachings of Saints to be introduced to the English-speaking readers. The idea originated from our beloved Master, Maharaj Charan Singh. The underlying purpose of this series is not to give com-prehensive treatises on the philosophies of various Saints, but to present in a simple way the salient features of their teachings. It will be realized that the basic tenets of the philosophies of all Saints are the same. They emphasize that God is one; that He can be realized within one's own self and not outside in places of pilgrimage or through the observance of rituals; that God-realization comes through inner mystic experience, for attaining which the help of a living Adept is necessary. Further, that such spiritual experience comes through love and devotion and not through intellectual deliberation and analysis.
