Introduction
to His Holiness Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji
His
Holiness Shree Shivkrupanand Swamiji is a 'Bhagirath' (one who performs a
stupendous task) who brought Himalayan Meditation (earlier known as Samarpan
Meditation) from the caverns of the Himalayas to society, just like
Bhagirath-the great mythological king-who, by his austere devotion, had brought
down river Ganga ('Bhaagirathi') for humanity. The knowledge of Himalayan
Meditation was confined only to the meditating sages, ascetics and Kaivalya
Kumbhak yogis in the Himalayas. How did Swamiji reach them? Let us go back to
Swamiji's childhood to know about it. Swamiji was born in a lower middle class
Maharashtrian Brahmin family. His mother was a religious, gentle and quiet lady
of few words. Swamiji received his religious orientation from his maternal
grandparents and his mother. However, his quest took him in a different
direction... he wished to 'meet' God ... and to attain the ultimate spiritual
experience. Due to his father's limited income, Swamiji had to finance his own
education, right from matriculation to post-graduation in commerce. He used to
tutor students in his free time and earned money to pay for his fees and other
educational material. Right from his childhood, he was very fond of travelling.
As child, he would walk along the railway tracks and observe the villages and
agricultural fields in the vicinity. As he grew a little older, he would travel
on his friends' bicycles to far-off jungles and mountains. Then, in the course
of his job, he travelled to almost all the places in India. While travelling,
he would visit places of seenic beauty and, at the same time, he would also
have spiritual discussions with the spiritual people of that particular place. Whenever
he went into a deep meditative trance while chanting mantras, he would get the
vision of three images consecutively. In his meditation, he saw: 1.
Pashupatinath Temple (Nepal) 2. An ascetic who was six-feet-tall, fair-skinned
with blue eyes and had a long white beard 3. A temple of Lord Shiva on a
hillock. Once when he had gone to Kanpur for some job-related work, he found
that due to some reason the banks there were on strike and this situation was
expected to continue for some time. Then Swamiji thought to himself. Why not go
to Nepal and get darshan of Lord Pashupatinath? So, he left for Nepal and got
the darshan of Lord Pashupatinath. There he met an old gentleman who had come
from a faraway village called Shibu and who said to Swamiji, "Shiv Baba is
waiting for you, come along!" When Swamiji met Shiv Baba, he realized that
it was the same ascetic whose darshan he often used to get during meditation.
Shiv Baba transferred all his spiritual energies to Swamiji and paved the way
for his spiritual progress. Then Swamiji returned from Nepal and continued with
his job. Soon he got married and he also had a son. When his son was eighteen
months old, another Guru came to his house and took Swamiji away to the
Himalayas after obtaining permission from his wife. Over there, Swamiji met and
accepted several sages, ascetics and kaivalya kumbhak yogis as his Gurus and
served them. While performing service to the Gurus, he also attained
(spiritual) knowledge from them.
My Salutations to all Pious Souls!
After performing the Deep Meditation Practicum (Gahan Dhyan
Anushthan) in the ashram, some process was happening within me. I felt as if
something was going to be written. But I could not understand it. What was
going to be written? When is it going to be written? I could not even
understand where it would begin. I felt terribly uneasy this way for three
continuous days. I wanted the beginning of this book to take place according to
Gurudev's wishes; that he should introduce himself to society from whichever
point (of time and place) he wished, because he was the one who was inspiring
me to write all this. Therefore, be should begin this book. Some sadhaks from
Junagadh Centre came to meet me at the ashram on 15 April 2007, and the work on
this book started on that same day and ended after five months on 15 September
2007. Thus, this work was accomplished through the grace of the Guru-energies
in the year 2007. This knowledge is being given to you very easily through me,
but I have not received it easily and not from one place either. The
Guru-energies wish to pass on this information through the medium of this book.
This is not an ordinary book but a distillation of the mystical knowledge of the
Guru-energies which are reaching you through the medium of this book. It has
been possible to write this book only after reaching a special meditative
state. Once, when I was very busy and could not reach that special state, then
the writing stopped. Then Guru Purnima was celebrated at Junagadh and I was
able to reach the higher state once again; and the process of writing started
was resumed. Everything was written after that and is being written today too.
Now it can be written continuously for at least three years. That's why this
book is presented to you as the first volume. Actually, all this (knowledge)
should have appeared in my discourses. But perhaps it did not manifest because
it is more appropriate that it should appear through the medium of the book.
One reaches a meditative state just by reading this book. One cannot read a lot
at a time. In fact, through the medium of the book one gets the vision of
Siddha (Perfected) yogis. The sadhak's chitta goes to their energies and he
receives the blessings of these Guru-energies. This book has been written
immediately after Spiritual Truth (2007) but it's so different; you will
experience that after reading it. I had returned (mentally) to the natural
ravines of the Himalayas, and the proximity of the enlightened saints through
the medium of this book. I am an ordinary human just like you. I too had to
face various problems in my life and I've written about these personal
experiences. I could become the medium of Guru-karya only because I attained
the proximity to my Gurus. Samarpan meditation is an 800-year-old technique of
meditation but it has been made accessible to the society now, and this book is
a description of how the River of Knowledge like river Ganga has descended from
the Himalayas.
Samarpan Yog of the Himalayas (Part-1) is an
autobiographical description of the spiritual journey of Satguru Shree
Shivkrupanand Swamiji. It is a live experience-sharing of an ordinary person's
journey from man to divine. Swamiji so vividly describes his spiritual
practices with the Himalayan Gurus and the natural environment surrounding them
that readers will feel as if they are living those moments themselves! Many
people of the present and future generations can partake in this experience and
attain self-realization through this living scripture.
