Book Description

Swami Paramananda (1884-1940) was a prominent Indian teacher and mystic who significantly influenced the spread of Vedanta in the United States. Born Suresh Chandra Guhathakurta in East Bengal, he joined the Ramakrishna Order at seventeen under Swami Vivekananda. Paramananda established Vedanta Centers in New York and Boston, founded nonsectarian ashramas, and authored numerous works on Vedanta and spirituality. His legacy includes promoting women's roles in spiritual leadership and continuing his mission through thriving institutions.
