Dr Tapan Bhattacharya (b. 1936) did his M.Sc. (Tech) from the Calcutta University and doctorate from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. He has had wide experience in various solid state electronic materials and devices at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. Besides papers and reports, he has authored a three-volume monograph on solar PV system design in India and two popular science books-- His Master's Slave and Switch on the Sun.
