Sree Sai Satchrita is the prominent grantha among the literature related to Sree Sai Baba. In June 1929 Late Govind Raghunath Dabholkar alias Hemadpant completed the treatise named Sree Sai Satchrita. It consists of 53 chapters and 9450 lines. Late Anna Saheb Dabholkar has compiled the miracles and teachings of Sree Sai Baba in this grantha. This holy grantha is the Geeta and Dnyaneshwari for Sai devotees. In addition to Marathi Sree Sai Baba Sansthan Trust has published this grantha in Hindi, English, Gujrati, Sindhi, Kannada, Telugu, Urdu, Tamil, Bengali, Konkani etc. In the same time CD in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu and English have also been available to the devotees of Sai.
The language of this holy grantha is the ancient language of the religious literature hence Dabholkar has used Sanskrit and old Marathi language in this grantha. So, it is not necessary that after the first reading of this grantha one can understand the meaning of the words. To make it easier for today's young generation Lt. Col. M.B. Nimbalkar painstakingly transformed the poetical granths into prosaic version in his book named Sree Sai Che Satya Charitra. This book consists of 556 pages published by Sree Sai Baba Sansthan Trust Shirdi in the year 2004 and after that Nimbalkar family wholeheartedly handed over all rights of publication to the trust.
With Baba's grace I was fortunate to be there at the auspicious occasion of the publication of this book. From my childhood days I had been reciting Dabholkar's Sree Sai Satcharita but I could not understand the meaning of some lines in some chapters. After reading Nimbalkar's Sree Sai Che Satya Charitra I could understand the real meaning of the original grantha. But in today's hectic life everybody is not able to read those 556 pages of the prosaic version of the grantha. So, with Baba's grace a thought occurred in my mind to write the abridged version of his book. I got it typed and kept in the record.
The learned commissioner of Pune Mr. Vijay Kuvalekar is an ardent devotee of Sree Sai Baba. As soon as he came to know about the publication of my articles in 'Dainik Sarvamať in Shirdi, he immediately asked for the copy and wished to publish it in a book form from some good publisher. Thus, keeping the words of Mr. Kuvalekar and without losing the chance to serve Sai Baba, Prajkta Prakashan devotedly published the book. I am really fortunate that Sree Sai Baba blessed me to serve Him.
I am grateful to the officers, administrative officers and other employees of Sree Sai Baba Sansthan Trust who constantly helped me to complete my work. I am indebted to the learned commissioner of Pune Mr. Vijay Kuvalekar because his efforts made the publication possible.
Success of every person depends on the co-operation of his family. During my busy schedule my beloved wife Sau. Surekha took over all household responsibilities herself. She constantly shared my efforts to serve Baba untiringly. My daughter Chi. Shradha and son Chi. Omkar's smiles boosted up my energy during those days. I pray to Baba for their bright future.
I feel that I have not contributed to this grantha. It became possible only because of Baba's blessings. If some important references of this grantha have been left out during the writing, I request Sai devotees to forgive me. I hope this abridged version will definitely help the devotees to understand the original grantha of Sree Sai Baba.
