The size or scale of an artwork plays a crucial role in determining the kind of response it receives from the audience. For example, a large artwork mesmerizes people, catches their attention, and demands them to take time and observe it completely from a distance that gives them a wholesome picture of it.

This tells us that there is no limit to the size of a painting, and variables such as the requirement of the buyer, size of the space, subject matter, etc. play a role in deciding if a painting is too big in a particular context.
The simplest way to determine if a painting is too big for a wall is by measuring the dimensions of the wall you want to place the painting on, and comparing it with the size of the painting. If the dimensions of the artwork exceed those of the wall, then that painting is too big for the wall.

The Chitrasutra from the Vishnudharmottara Purana in the 41st chapter or Adhyaya mentions the qualities of a painting as the employment of perpendiculars for body postures and proportions, exquisiteness, variation in composition, being true to life and foreshortening or the presentation of depth in the composition.
“The master or acharya praises the lines”- this is what the Chitrasutra, an ancient Indian authority on the art of painting opines on what is the most important component of a painting.
Lines, the most basic and simultaneously difficult-to-perfect element in a watercolor should be well-defined and mastered to come up with a perfect watercolor. Thus we can say that the perfection of lines is the golden rule of watercolor in the context of India.
Watercolor paint has a decent lifespan and rarely ages beyond use for years. External variables such as temperature, light, dust, and human interaction determine the fluctuation in its longevity, but if kept in a cool, dry, and clean space, watercolor paint lives for long, with some fading of the bright colors.
