About The DVD

The documentary highlights the saffron clad melodious singers and messengers of universality called bauls, who mostly live in West Bengal area. These bauls who came from all religious propagate the idea of humanity and love studded with the element of life benevolence. The philosophy of the baul is documented in this film, which traces the love for the humanity by the group which became part of the Bhakti movement in the post-sixteenth century. The Guru for baul is not someone who represents God or a mediator but is referred as a Guide who is searching the truth within the heart of the man. Love, compassion remains the catchword of these bauls. The film explores many lesser known nuances of baul songs, their meanings and their life style apart from the broad philosophy of love for the humanity.
