The style of Ramayana a narration is called Warileela tradition in Manipur. There is a single narrator, who presents the show in a monologue, not a monotonous one, but mixed with use of gestures, actions, change of facial expressions, to convey the different nuances of the story. The narrator has to assume a certain posture or asan – yogasan, the posture adopted by Ashvatthama in Mahabharata and Hanuman in Ramayana. The story, presented in seven parts of khands, is not different from the traditional story.
