Paintings of extraordinary beauty and variety were made for the many royal courts of India during a golden age that unfolded in the sixteenth century. Mughal emperors maintained a record of events and were not satisfied depiction of events as well. This miniature is a narration of events, divided by compartmentalized sections, together with geometric motifs interspersed with calligraphy. That the artist is able to fit all of this on such a small scale is awesome by itself. Coming out of the vanquished king's fort and proceeding towards the Red fort, is the theme of the painting. Elephants, Camels and horses form part of the victorious entourage.

The procession marches to the feat of drums. Victory flags and spears mark the event. The overflowing river is no deterrent to the joyous courtiers. The artist has shown a long, distant structure and vegetation, implying that they have a long way to go. Crossing the bridge over the stormy river is their route. The smaller compartments show a palanquin being carried by around half a dozen men, either proceeding or proceeding the main cavalcade. On the left upper corner is their destination.

The stately gait of the royal procession is brilliantly evoked through compositional divisions and various colours.
