A Symbol of Auspicious Beginnings and Spiritual Abundance

This exquisite urli, crafted from fine brass, is more than just a decorative piece; it is a vessel imbued with profound spiritual significance, deeply rooted in Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Its intricate design, featuring the sacred Ashtamangala symbols, transforms it into a conduit for positive energy and a focal point for devotion. The Ashtamangala, or "Eight Auspicious Symbols," are a cherished collection in Tibetan Buddhism, each representing a specific offering made by the gods to the Buddha immediately after his enlightenment. These symbols are believed to ward off evil and bring good fortune. The urli itself, a traditional Indian decorative bowl, is often filled with water and adorned with floating flowers, candles, or offerings. In this context, it becomes a sanctuary for these powerful symbols, amplifying their protective and blessings-bestowing qualities. Imagine this urli gracing your home altar, a serene space for meditation and prayer. As light reflects off the polished brass, it illuminates the meticulously rendered Ashtamangala, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and spiritual resonance.

The Majesty of the Ashtamangala

Each element of the Ashtamangala displayed on this urli holds a specific meaning. The Endless Knot, for instance, symbolizes the interconnectedness of all phenomena and the Buddha's infinite wisdom and compassion. The Lotus Flower represents purity, spiritual awakening, and the ability to rise above worldly desires. The Victory Banner signifies the Buddha's triumph over ignorance and suffering, while the Dharma Wheel, with its eight spokes, embodies the Noble Eightfold Path, the core teachings for achieving enlightenment. The pair of Golden Fish represent freedom from the ocean of suffering and the ability to swim freely in the Dharma. The Parasol offers protection from negative forces and spiritual affliction. The Vase of Treasures symbolizes spiritual abundance and the fulfillment of all wishes. Finally, the Conch Shell signifies the proclamation of the Dharma, spreading the teachings far and wide. This urli masterfully integrates these symbols into a breathtakingly detailed tableau. The craftsmanship is evident in every curve and contour, reflecting the skill of the artisans who have brought this sacred representation to life in India.

A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Handmade with dedication and precision, this urli is a testament to the enduring artistry of Indian craft. The choice of brass, a material revered for its durability and its ability to hold intricate details, ensures that this piece will be a cherished heirloom for generations to come. Its substantial presence, both in its dimensions and its symbolic weight, makes it a commanding yet graceful addition to any sacred space, meditation room, or even as a statement piece in a living area seeking a touch of spiritual elegance. This urli invites you to embrace a tradition of mindfulness and to invite the blessings of the Ashtamangala into your life.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
