During the march of mankind struggling and striving towards the goal of Perfection, God vouchsafes to humanity true seers, prophets and heroes from time to time, who, being divine messengers, fulfil their mission in their stay on earth and thus quicken, make easy and give true direction to the march of man struggling away from the path of true Religion. Despite the innumerable inventions and discoveries of the modern times, the last query "What then?" remains unanswered. Religion comes to the rescue and completes the work of Science. The crown of this age of science is such scientifically proven Religion. The Vedanta is the rationale of every Religion. Not until this scientific Religion-the universal Religion, the Heart of all Religions, the simplest of all Religious - is diligently proclaimed and lived, will there be true peace and happiness in the world.
This inimitable book - The Identity of Jiva and Brahma (Soul and God) the "Secret of the Vedanta", discloses all the most important in its kind, it has the great dignity and force of truth behind, having been written by a spiritual giant who has rent the veil that conceals the real Man and come in contact with the Spiritual Truth, by one who is a Jivan Mukta, an Avadhuta, a Paramahamsa, i.e., one who has mastered that most invincible Hamsa and realised Brahma on this very mundane world. To him who has realised the Unqualified, Universal-Intelligence-Bliss common to all Religions, there is no difference of caste, creed or religion and his watch-word has ever been "Openness" or ("Vettaveli"). He has shown in his own self most clearly that the Realisation of the one great idea the Divinty in man - is the most practical thing in life, attainable by the destruction of all ideation.
Through this valuable book, he has laid open to the world at large how man is haunted by numerous and various bonds on earth, how to fulfil the supreme purpose of life with the destruction of the mind, what the state of the universe was before Evolution and what our body truly is with all its attachments. In a short but clear way he has explained in a few chapters the three-fold bodies of man, the combination of the five elements and the composition of the gross body and the inner senses, the three qualities, the different states of consciousness and then the quint-essence of the teachings of the Upanishads. Next, he has explained most lucidly at great length the real meaning of 'caste'. Thus, many-sided in its excellence, this book is easily understandable by all men and women, even by an average boy or girl and contains apt, numerous and valuable quotations from most of the Upanishads, Puranas, Ithihasas etc., including that most rare and precious of the priceless teachings of the Great Hindu EPIC-the Sri Bhagavad Gita.
After dealing at great length in a simple and clear way all about the mundane world and its true nature, he goes on to explain the core of all the teachings of the Vedas and other unique works vouchsafed to mankind by God, viz., the Pranayama. In this sacred land of India, millions are taught Pranayama even very early in their lives. For want of true and unselfish teachers, many do not understand the true and scientific method of practising it and hopelessly neglect to perform it in their lives. Ingreat idea the Divinty in man - is the most practical thing in life, attainable by the destruction of all ideation.

It is usual to localise the position of the crescent moon with reference to the branch of a tree and that of Arundhati Devi, the ideal of chastitiy and wife of Sri Vasishtha, with reference to the stars in the constellation called the 'Big Bear'; so, does this 'Identity of Soul and God the secret of the Vedanta' point to the Brahma the Subtlest of the subtle. Ignorant of the identity of the immortal personal Soul and Para Brahman (the Universal Soul) and mistaking the ephemeral body which is a compound of the five elements for the eternal principle, people do acts of merit and sin and to enjoy the fruits thereof take births ad infinitum in various sorts of wombs and undergo all sorts of pleasure and pain. No one can extricate himself from this endless cycle of births and deaths until he realises that "he and Brahman are one."Deluded by Maya (nescience) all men and women in the world fall into the bottomless abyss of Samsara and suffer from the diseases of avarice and Lust, not knowing how to attain Eternal Bliss which they always yearn for. They may well he compared to the foolish elephant which for the sake of a few blades of grass falls into the khedda (ditch) and is captivated for ever.

The serpent falls a victim to the sense of 'hearing', being caught by man with the aid of music; the deer to 'touch', the moth to 'form', the fish to 'taste' and the bee to 'smell'. The deer fleeing for safety allows the bushy hair of its tail to be caught by the brambles and thorns and falls a prey to the huntsman. The moth mistakes the naked light for a sweet fruit and flings itself at it only to be burnt alive. The fish longing for the smal bait of flesh in the angle is caught and killed. The bee gets attracted by the smell of the fragrant flower of Vinchelia Champaca and loses its life. So does man is spite of his being the best of creation gets captivated by his five senses and is ruined thereby. He should therefore strive for absolute freedom which is the "summum bonum" of life.
Moksha means liberation from bondage or captivity which is of two kinds, 'outer' and 'inner'.
The 'outer' is the indentification with what is not self; such ideas as 'my house', 'my wife', 'my son', 'my daughter', 'my wealth', 'my industry' and so forth.
The 'inner' is the passion such as lust anger, covetousness, pride, anvy etc.
This bondage is brought on by Ignorance which though beginningless is, in reality, no more real than mirage. The latent impressions in the causal body formed by the experiences in previous lives show themselves out in the shape of love for wealth, woman and other possessions as explained on pages 79 to 99 infra. This triple desire creates its environments and causes the person to take birth where he can reap the fruits of his previous actions.
