Foreword
Madhu Gangopadhyay is a professional educationist, practitioner of yoga and dance, military spouse, mother, and poet from India. Growing up all over her country of birth, Madhu has dabbled in writing since childhood. However, it has only been relatively recently - with the advent of social media -that she, like many writers around the globe, garnered the opportunity to share her poetry with a wider audience. Madhu's poetry is passionate and compassionate. As the author herself declares, she writes from impulse; listening as the Muse speaks. Her work encompasses both the deeply personal and the universal, and is informed by a rich tradition of Indian verse, while maintaining contemporary relevance. Madhu's distinctive style has been acclaimed within the online poetic community and, subsequently, her work has been published and translated in several print anthologies and journals. "Inkstorms and Paper Suns" is Madhu Gangopadhyay's debut full-length collection one in which it's well worth immersing oneself. The poetic language within Inkstorms' pages is vibrant and colourful in its descriptions of life's varying challenges and the inner workings of the mind and heart. Each piece compels us, the readers, to feel something: a familiar emotion, a relatable experience, or to ponder our own reactions to an issue of global significance. There are many strings to Madhu's bow, and it shows to full effect in this brilliant first collection, "Inkstorms and Paper Suns". Moreover, the author is a woman with a voice beautiful, clear and resonant that demands immediate notice.
