Leftists and radical Islamists have come closer in recent years drawing on substantial ideological interchange, sharing political space and infiltrating Universities and Institutes. Both Leftists and Islamists have utilized the ideological frame of anti- globalization, anti-capitalism, anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism to gain mutual support. Current political thinkers discuss this fast- emerging alliance which perceives any contrary opinion with utter hostility. It has cracked down on Buddhists, Christians and also Ahmadiyyas and Shias through terrorism, violence and ethnic cleansing. It has invaded and demolished cultural symbols as in Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Bamiyan in Afghanistan and elsewhere in South Asia.
