Preface

his life is a chapter of a book whose beginning is not Iknown and the end is not visible. We always existed and we will always exist. It is an unending journey where everyone has an independent identity. This book is based on teachings from Bhagavad-Gita, The Song Divine-a rare collection of teachings that came from the Supreme God, with no interpreter in between. This is one of the reasons that this is the most read book in Hinduism and also one of the most read scriptures in the world. Bhagavad-Gita has no mention of Hinduism anywhere as it is a teaching for all human beings, irrespective of their country or caste or religion. The setting of Bhagavad-Gita is in the middle of a battleground and its contents come from Supreme Personality of God, Lord Krishna. While reading this scripture one understands the real meaning of this life and what karmas lead to which destination after this life is completed. Our existence keeps moving in various worlds sometimes to higher worlds which are referred in the scriptures as heaven and identified in various scriptures as lokas, sometimes to the lower worlds of insects and animals and then back to human birth where new karmas (actions) are allowed to define the destiny again. Human birth sits on a hot seat as this is the only birth where the individual is allowed to correct one's path and define the future journey. Other births like animals and insects are only for suffering. The higher worlds of heavensere more for fulfilling one's unfulfilled desires and hence exhaling one's merits performed during human life.
