Introduction
The present collection of essays owes its origin to an online T course on Western Philosophy, organized by Bhaktivedanta Research Centre, Kolkata. The course was primarily meant for research students who are either pursuing their Ph.D. programme or planning to do so. All the lectures were highly appreciated by the participants and there is a growing demand for the dissemination of these lectures in a printed form. The articles collected in the present volume cover many of the major concerns and debates in contem-porary Western Philosophy, although, for sure, many other issues in Western philosophy could not be included in the present volume.

Nilanjan Bhowmick, Sreejith K.K., and Manidipa Sanyal have dealt with the Gettier problem in epistemology and they have explored the attempts made to respond to the Gettier problem.

The problem of universal has been one of the central concerns in metaphysics and Sebanti Bhattacharya and Tamoghna Sarkar have presented this. Realism-antirealism debate has received renewed attention in contemporary Western philosophy and this has been dis-cussed by Ramesh Chandra Pradhan and Madhucchanda Sen in their papers.
