This book is an intensive probe into the mind, the most complex phenomena in the world. Mind is the cause of happiness and despair in our life. Man is his own enemy or friend depending on how he engages his mind. When in control, the mind brings brightness and fascination and is responsible for the creation and evolution of our society and it is also the mind, when set free, it brings darkness and despair, and destroys and affects the internal and external environments of a human being.
Satpal Ji Maharaj is a multi-dimensional personality. He is a spiritualist as well as a social activist. To enlighten man and to enlighten the world is his true mission. He promotes the principles of Manav Dharam, the universal religion of humanity disseminated by all the Master in all Ages. He teaches no particular scripture but believes and professes all. He advises to follow the middle path, to live a balanced life between materialism and spirituality. He blends the best aspects of science and spirituality, which he terms as an ultimate science, the metaphysical science, the science of soul.
What is Mind? That which separates you from God is mind. The wall that stands between you and God is mind. Pull that wall down through meditation and you will come face to face with God. Mind is a mystery. The vast majority of people know not the existence of the mind and its operations. Even so-called educated people know very little of the mind subjectively or of its nature and operations. They have only heard of it.
Hui-k'o: "I am disturbed; please give me peace of mind."
Monk: "Bring your mind in front of me to treat it"
Hui-k'o: "I am trying to seek it, but can't find it"
Monk: "Be conscious in seeking it, it won't trouble you".
So, what is mind? It is extroverted consciousness which creates a false 'I', identifying itself with material objects. Mind creates an endless chain of permutations and combinations and thereby wastes our energies.
