Book Description
Preface

I was a student of science and higher Mathematics in my higher secondary? My father was a Professor and Head of Sanskrit and Hindi department at St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi.

Among the three sisters I am the middle one. My elder sister followed the path of my father and did Sanskrit Hons and MA and teaches Sanskrit at Indraprastha College. Papa was also a Homeopathy practitioner. He started homeopathy as a hobby to cure himself and soon it became a passion and he started giving medicines to his patients free. He became a known doctor of Homeopathy in the university circles and lots of patients started coming to him for cure and cure he did. I remember as a child that big professors of the university and colleges and even doctors from All India Medical were his patients and I along with my sisters acted as the compounder to make Homeopathy doses and learned Homeopathy in the process. It was his belief and also mine that allopathy gives only half cures, only surgery is the greatness of allopathy. Homeopathy gives full cure if the selection of the medicine is correct (as there are many medicines for one illness) as it is symptomatic pathy. This passion for Homeopathy led my father to convince me to take up science and become a Homeopathy doctor and adopt his second profession. My aptitude was not there for Science and Maths I was a poetic minded person who was fond of literature and poetry, Maths was my weakest point, especially Arithmetic and Algebra, but somehow, I managed to do my higher secondary. When I was entering college, I wanted to do English Hons. or Psychology Hons. but did not get it in the first go and instead was given Philosophy Hons. of which, like many, I did not know anything. I take the opporturnity today to thank my teachers Ms Durga Pant, Dr. Neelima Chakravarty, Dr. Krishna Dasgupt and Mrs. Manju Saxena who taught me and in one week of joining the course I loved the subject. That was the starting of my journey in the field of Philosophy.

I started writing from the first year itself, and this collection of my papers are those which I have written, published, presented at National and International level. This collection consists of my article Shankracharya's Philosophy written in First year in 1973, Buddhist concept of Self written in MA in 1977, Arthapatti as a Pramana written in M. Phil, Who's Mercy is it Anyways- in Ph. D and others during my 30 years of teaching. This collection of all my papers written at different times is for my students whom I have taught for the last 30 years. I wish to convey to them through this book that don't think what you are writing is 100% or not, just express whatever you understand, because 100% of every phase of your life is different. We all try to give and do our 100% whenever we do, what matters is the commitment, dedication and the sincerity with which we do. Knowledge is an ongoing process and we have to go on and improve and try to achieve excellence. My papers are on varied topics and various concepts in Indian and Western thought. It also deals with topics in Applied Ethics, which is very dear and close to my heart.
