FAQs

Q1. What should I read first - Srimad Bhagavatam or Puranas?

The Sanskrit word Purana refers to “ancient book” and this itself claims the importance of reading the Puranas for gaining spiritual knowledge, the knowledge of the Absolute. There are 18 Puranas and of them all, the Bhagavat Purana or Srimad Bhagavatam is considered to be the most important. It consists of 18,000 verses that elaborately describe the nectar of devotion to the Supreme Lord Krishna or Vishnu. Bhagavatam is known as “the ripened fruit of the tree of Vedic literature” and therefore covers everything in the other Puranas, Upanishads, or Vedas. Thus, reading Srimad Bhagavatam is like reading everything about this material world and beyond.
